Lukas Luzius Leichtle

Lukas Luzius Leichtle's (b. 1995, Germany) practice explores the depiction of skin as an organ that lays on the outside of our bodies, encasing and separating us as individuals whilst at the same time being the first point of contact to everything else. The multi layered nature of skin is mirrored in the form of his paint application. The compression and deformation of the appearance of human bodies in the artist's oeuvre reflects on activities and movements of the inner self. The works can be imagined as if they were a play on stage, a hyperbole of reality, where the slightly exaggerated poses are close to being theatrical.
